ABOUT SILENT STAGE
Hi, I'm Steve. I'm a producer, mix and mastering engineer working with indie, rock, metal and punk artists from my studio located in Shotley Gate, on the Shotley Peninsula in Suffolk.
Our setup is ideal for artists wanting help with music production, recording/overdubs, mixing and mastering their material ready for release.
The studio consists of 3 rooms. A small recording / control room, a larger open recording / rehearsal space, and a separate drum room with video links between.
RECORD, MIX, MASTER
Recording
For recording, we have a Presonus Studiolive 32SC mixer and digital stagebox providing 32 track recording across the 3 rooms. A video link is also provided between the main room and the drum room so bands can play/record together.
The studio has a full inventory of mics including Warm Audio WA47 and WA87 for classic vocal recordings. There's also a DW Collector's series drum kit, various guitars and basses (Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Warwick, Ibanez, etc), all available to use when you record here.
Rehearsing / Band Practice
The rehearsal space is headphone only (so no amps or acoustic drums) and based around a 20 track digital mixer/recorder (recording at 44.1Khz, 24bit), each band member can have their own headphone mix, so you'll all be able to hear what you are playing. Plus your sessions can be recorded, so you can review your rehearsal later, or mix your finished songs yourself. Great for bands and composers exploring ideas, creating demos, or honing sets for playing live.
If you'd prefer, we can mix and master your tracks.
The rehearsal room is air-conditioned and equipped with everything you need - Roland electronic drum kit (mesh pads and 16" kick drum), guitar pre-amps/DI with speaker emulation (includes FX loops to add your own FX), bass pre-amp/DI with speaker emulation, mics, stands and of course, headphones. Just bring your instruments.

Tink rehearsing at Silent Stage Studio, October 2023
Symphonic metal band Tink (@Tinkbanduk) rehearsed at Silent Stage in preparation fortheir autumn gigs. We recorded 6 tracks (guitar, bass, stereo drums, lead vocal and backing track) and video from our fixed HD cameras and mixed them together for a promotional video, featuring their last single, Chemicals.

PC-based recording system based around a Presonus Studiolive 32SC mixer providing 32 channel recording at 48kHz, 24bit.
Recording / mixing / mastering using Studio One, Reaper, Mixbus 32c V9, Ableton Live, with Waves, iZotope, Plugin Alliance plugins. Monitoring via Tannoy Gold 7 nearfield monitors. Various dynamic and condenser mics for recording sessions (Warm Audio WA47 (1), Warm Audio WA87 (1), Warm Audio WA19 (2), Aston Spirit (2), Aston Stealth (2), GAP R1 ribbon mic (1), Lewitt LCT 040 (matched pair), Sontronics DM 1B, sE X1A (3), Rode NT1 (1), Sennheiser MD421 (1), SM57 (2), SM58 (1), sEV7 (3), plus others). Let us know if you have any specific requirements.
We have a number of guitars and basses (Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Warwick, Ibanez, etc), plus a DW collectors series drum kit (10", 12", 16", 20"), all available to utilise within the hourly recording rate.
Rehearsal Room

Roland Electronic drum kit with mesh heads, TD-15 module and 16" bass drum with mesh head and trigger, for natural feel.
2 x Blackstar Dept 10. Dual Drive DI/cab sim pedals + Mooer Shimverb reverb.
1 x Tech 21 VT Bass DI with cab sim, EH Tone Corset compressor, EH Big Muff bass fuzz.
sE V7 mics.
Audio-Technica ATH-M30x headphones.
Rehearsal mixing and recording to Zoom L20 digital mixer/recorder and PC. Drum kit is connected up to PC for midi capture if required.
